New Horizons Corporation service recipients contribute to the community through on-site work groups called enclaves. About 75 workers provide services such as cleaning, landscaping and mechanical assembly under the supervision of New Horizons staff.

"Their sole goal seems to be to please," said Colonel Wike Waggoner, who employs service recipients for janitorial services at the National Guard Armory in Nashville. "I notice this in the mornings when they're coming in. They're all enthusiastic. They're glad to be coming to work. And when they leave in the afternoon, they've got a sense of accomplishment. They got something done!"

"Their attitude is very different in that they really enjoy coming to work," NHC Executive Director Marva Dale Greenwood said. "It is a privilege for them to be able to have a job and to work out in the community."

Col. Mike Waggoner and Service Recipients
Said Col. Waggoner: "It's a wonderful program. I see what it does for the service recipients and I see what it does for our people, and also what it does for our budget."
